Madam, - Further to Madeline Spiers's article on the state of the health service (Opinion & Analysis, October 7th) perhaps the real question should be: "Is there a good health system in existence elsewhere we can emulate?".
The answer is: yes there is; it is the Nordic health model.
Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden have long had a reputation for excellent health systems. Has the Irish Government or the HSE considered dispatching senior executives to observe how the health system works as well as it does in these countries, and then implementing the same ideals and practices at home? In terms of the Irish nation's health, how about adopting a "Closer to Bergin" perspective? - Yours, etc,
