Madam, - Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern highlighted in the Dáil last week the plight of Irish emigrants and in particular the searing pain of separation, loss and isolation. This is also the plight of immigrants in Ireland today and in particular those who are refused family reunification.
In your Editorial of October 8th you express a desire that the Government should promote the wellbeing of foreign workers in this State. We believe that family reunification is an important factor in enabling immigrants to cope with loneliness, loss and isolation, and in enhancing integration. We hope this will be given priority in any new legislation. - Yours, etc,
