Sir, - While I rejoice at the announcement of the new Dublin transport schemes, I question why this is front-page news when the on-going rail strike barely gets a mention in the media.
I implore the media to take their cameras to Howth Junction or Portmarnock around 7.45 a.m. to capture the images of the overcrowded and unsafe trains on the Dundalk line, one of the worst affected by this strike. At the time of the morning when most commuters are travelling, the trains have been running at 33 per cent of regular service, but the same numbers are trying to travel to work. There will be chaos if this strike is allowed to continue into September/October when the schools and colleges resume. - Yours, etc,
Claire Kane, Donabate, Co Dublin.
