Madam, - On the letters page of Tuesday August 21st Cliona Saidlear implied that "pornography", specifically sex toys which were the subject of debate, encouraged violence towards women, in spite of both their usage for pleasure and their usage in many cases by women.
One letter below Darragh Higgins made known his belief that the British government should come forth and apologise for the Norman Invasion of some 900 years ago.
The Irish have finally become so self-righteous that I am now embarrassed to be counted amongst their number. - Yours, bemusedly,
DAVID R NEARY, Waterloo Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
