Madam, - I write to congratulate Fianna Fáil. We all know that it is the main party of Government, but now, on the Shannon-Heathrow issue, it has achieved the impossible. Fianna Fáil is now the Opposition too.
Time for Labour and Fine Gael to wind up. - Yours, etc,
GAVIN TOBIN, St Wolstan'a Abbey, Celbridge, Co Kildare.
Madam, - Here we go again. Another strike looming at this vestige of the national airline! As a member of the travelling public, may I make a simple suggestion to both sides? Stop the posturing and think of those who pay your wages. Listen to Kieran Mulvey, sit down now and sort it out - as will inevitably happen after untold hardship is caused. The victims of this present debacle will not forget. - Yours, etc,
TONY PEACOCK, Terenure Road East, Dublin 6.
Madam, - May I just remind your paper and the rest of the media of something? The Government does not "own" 25 per cent of Aer Lingus, nor does it own the foreshore of the north beach at Greystones. It is the people who have 25 per cent of the former and 100 per cent of the latter.
The Government can act on behalf of the people (ie the owners) in both cases by listening to what the owners actually want. - Yours, etc,
JOAN QUINN, Greystones, Co Wicklow.
Madam, - Aer Lingus message to Shannon-Heathrow passengers: "Welcome to Boston". - Yours, etc,
PAT KELLY, Puckane, Nenagh, Co Tipperary.
