Madam, - Noting the speed with which the British government is dismantling look-out posts in the North, perhaps this may be an opportune time for the Irish people north and south - both Catholic and Protestant - to unite and be with one voice to demand the decommissioning of Sellafield.
The danger of a suicide bombing is very real. Already there are increased instances of leukaemia, tumours and other ill effects on Ireland's east coast running parallel to Sellafield.
Perhaps our Celtic brothers and sisters in Wales and Scotland would unite with us in our determination to rid us of this source of cancer in our midst. We must act now to safeguard our children and our children's children. - Yours, etc,
PATRICK P McCARTHY, FIONA M KEY, Silchester Road, Glenageary, Co Dublin.
