Sir, - An advertisement in The Irish Times of December 18th for Celine Dion's forthcoming concert quotes ticket prices of £38.50 and £42.50 inclusive of booking fee. In the tiniest type at the bottom we can barely make out "subject to 10 per cent handling charge". What is the difference between a "booking fee" and a "handling charge"?
If the consumer protection legislation is not adequate to protect us from such deceptive advertising, surely newspapers should refuse to publish the offending advertisement. - Yours, etc., Hugh Durham,
The Grove, Celbridge, Co Kildare.
