Madam - It is entirely inappropriate that a briefly relocating Seanad chamber should cause another national institution, such as the Natural History Museum, to keep its doors closed to members of the public.

One wonders if this proposal would have been made were the museum currently open, rather than closed and under repair following last summer's accident.

This period of repair at Leinster House should be seen as a rare opportunity for Irish governance. It provides a unique chance to locate the Seanad chamber outside Dublin, in Cork, Limerick or Galway, until such time as the repairs are completed. - Yours, etc,
