Sir, - Attempted solutions to Dublin's public transport will not succeed if they do not adequately consider the human factor. People just do not like waiting at bus stops in the wind, rain and cold which is the reality of Irish winters. Adding a new surface system of light rail (i.e., trams) will mean that commuters will have to change over between three transport systems - buses, DART and trams - each changeover requiring standing in yet another miserable queue!
Surely the answer is to extend the DART - underground in the city centre - and not add another layer of discomfort and surface congestion. - Yours, etc.,
