Sir, - May I add to the excellent letters regarding the new clampdown on speeding. By making cameras, etc, more visible the crime may be prevented, rather than letting it happen and then prosecuting.
In my opinion travelling faster then the present maximum limit in a good vehicle in good conditions on one of our excellent new roads is not dangerous. What is dangerous is passing on solid white lines, at junctions and slow traffic in fast lanes, causing much frustration and build up of traffic.
My suggestion is for more Gardai on motor cycles, which would create a presence and surely give the Gardai much more mobility to apprehend dangerous drivers. - Yours, etc., CLIVE EVANS,
Delgany, Co Wicklow.
