Sir, - Having been at the conference "5,000 Too Many" last week, which looked for ways to reduce the number of Irish women choosing abortion, I thought Padraig O'Morain's report on Homestart (Health, September 28th) seemed very timely.
If the Government had the generosity and imagination to fund such local initiatives it would give the message that there is life for the mother at the end of the pregnancy; that motherhood can and should be a rewarding option that is valued by society and brings personal fulfilment. - Yours, etc., Mrs Katharine Davey,
