Madam, - Now that the senior hurling championship is ending for another year, let us thank all the players and mentors who have provided us with such a memorable season. This year's championship has been one of the most exciting in recent years and hurling has once again shown itself to be the world's greatest game.
This year has seen Limerick and Kilkenny contest the senior all-Ireland Final, Cork and Tipperary in the minor final and Wexford and Waterford in the intermediate final. Next Sunday, Galway will meet Dublin in the under-21 final. With eight different counties involved in hurling's four major finals, it is clear that, despite the pessimistic views of some "expert" commentators, hurling is still alive and well. - Yours, etc,
EAMONN Ó' HÉACHACH, Iona Close, Castletroy, Limerick.
