Madam, - As we approach the date for Dún Laoghaire Rathdown councillors to vote on the proposed Sandyford link road, it is becoming increasingly clear that this road is being built mainly to facilitate access to the new Dundrum town centre.
This glorified shopping mall is already well served by the new Wyckham Bypass, by the Luas and by many other roads. It is a blot on the landscape of the once pretty village of Dundrum.
Airfield Farm, the only green area in this new town of Dundrum, will lose another swathe of land to this road.
Should we stand idly by, as our quality of life is compromised further, to facilitate private enterprise?
Enough is enough, I say. Let the people speak before the whole of Dublin 14 and 18 is turned into a concrete jungle. - Yours, etc,
IRENE McHUGH, Glencairn Road, Leopardstown, Dublin 18.
