Madam, - As a Leaving Cert student, my interest in politics is generally confined to the basic minimum required to navigate my exams in June. However, having recently turned 18, and inspired by Fintan O'Toole's article, "How Enda Kenny blew it" (Opinion, January 9th), I considered my choices when casting my debut political vote: Fianna Fáil - a party recently wracked by scandal and abuse of power - or Fine Gael, whose leader lacks backbone and the support of backbenchers?
In the pending general election, when it comes down to a choice between Bertie or Enda, what young people really want is honesty and inspiration. No wonder so many won't vote at all! - Yours, etc,
