Madam, – I recently perused the "Jobs Vacant" section of Wanted in Rome, a twice monthly publication that as an Irish citizen in Italy I regularly consult and thanks to which I found my first job in Rome.
It would appear that Dubarry of Ireland is unconcerned by the puzzlement and hilarity their insert provoked among my English colleagues in the Bank of Italy’s translation unit: “Seeking vibrant English mother tongue person, must speak some Italian. Offering part time work travelling to events promoting our leather boots. Must be dynamic and outgoing and able to emulate English upper class. Interesting daily rate.”
Just who, we wondered, should apply? – Yours, etc,
