Madam, - Some time ago Tánaiste Mary Harney used the government services of a helicopter to open an off-licence for a friend in the midlands.
Yet Dr Marie Cassidy, the State pathologist, has to drive herself all over this country (often in the middle of the night) to carry out her work.
While outwardly in this State we show all the signs of modernity and efficiency it is embarrassing to discover that some of the most fundamental services are not high on our priority list.
I hope Minister for Justice Michael McDowell is embarrassed by this fiasco. - Yours, etc.,
