Sir, - Would you mind asking my favourite diarist Kevin Myers, to leave the skylarks out of his examples of "strength and status" (An Irishman's Diary, April 11th). I know, I know: he is perfectly correct and accurate as usual. Birdsong is territorial and aggressive. But just to indulge me, could he leave me with this one idiotic illusion, that skylarks sing out of sheer joie de vivre?
