Sir, - I always assumed that all citizens were treated equally and fairly by Government Departments, especially old-age pensioners. But this is not the case if you are a widow over 66 who never worked outside the home. You are treated as a widow, not a pensioner.
The rate of payment for the widows' contributory pension, aged 66 and over, is £89.10. The payment for old-age contributory pension is £96.
Surely now, when the "country is awash with money", is the time for the Government to remove this anomaly. - Yours, etc.,
