Sir, - The author of In Time's Eye (August 11th) praises Sean O'Faolain's 1937 abridged edition of the 1826 Life of Wolfe Tone and asks: `Has any publisher got in mind the issuing of a short life of Wolfe Tone? In the spring of 1998 The Lilliput Press will publish a new, unabridged edition of the 1826 Life, edited and introduced by Thomas Bartlett, who has also restored passages from Tone's journal that were cut by his son from the 1826 edition. This is not, then, the short life desired by the columnist, but a monumental collection of Tone's autobiography, diaries, letters, political writings and other fascinating elements, including William Tone's account of his father's trial. Lilliput is pleased to be publishing this extraordinary work in the bicentenary year of the 1798 Rebellion. - Yours, etc.,
Brendan Barrington,
The Lilliput Press, Dublin 7.
