Madam, – Warm greetings from the North Pole to you and to all your dear readers. Would you please be so kind as to remind all the boys and girls to post their Christmas letters to me as soon as possible so that Mrs Claus and the elves can start packing the toys and gifts on the sleigh for my big journey on Christmas Eve.
I love reading the letters from the children in Ireland, particularly when they have taken the time to write the letter themselves. So all they need do is include their full name and address in their very best writing on the top left-hand corner of the front of the envelope, stick a stamp on top right and post their letter to: Santa Claus, The North Pole. It’s as simple as that.
And Santa’s many helpers in An Post will make sure they receive a reply from me just before Christmas. But it is important that they get writing straight away, and that they include their name and full address, in their very best writing. The kind people at An Post have been helping me with my replies for more than 20 years, despite it being their busiest time of year.
I’m off to feed the reindeer and to start making a list which I’ll be checking twice or even thrice over the next few weeks.
I do ho-ho-hope you have a wonderful Christmas! – Yours, etc,
