Sir, - Each month brings new stabbings, shootings, killings, assaults and robberies.
During the last election the Government promised that its policy of "zero tolerance" would bring about a situation where there would be relatively insignificant crime statistics. The policy would start the day it took office.
The issue of crime is central to our society today. When the next election comes around the Government will pay dearly for having cynically tricked the electorate in its bid to gain power. - Yours, etc., Gerard Sheehy,
Grove Lawn, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
