Sir, - According to your report of April 12th, solicitors acting for the Northern Area Health Board sought an undertaking from the residents of Lispopple linked to the protest at Carlton House to cease "all activity" and to remove all placards, posters or similar materials from the vicinity of the house. However, when I visited the area on April 17th I saw offensive, large, red-lettered placards affixed to semi-permanent structures along the road adjacent to Carlton House.
As all such signposts require planning permission I am seeking an enforcement order requiring Fingal County Council to remove these illegal signs as a matter of urgency.
As a resident of Swords I wish to dissociate myself from the opposition of the Lispopple Balcultry Residents' Association of Swords to the inclusion of people who deserve and need the support of a caring community. Mr Brennan, chairman of the residents' association, writes about his area as a "rural isolated community with no facilities (April 18th)". I would imagine that he and his fellow residents who obviously understand only too well the meaning of isolation and lack of facilities would be among the first to welcome into their community people who suffer from isolation and lack of facilities. - Yours, etc.,
Brendan Butler, Pennock Hill, Swords, Co Dublin.
