Sir, - At present the Government does not seem to know what to do with its surplus money. I suggest that it be used for the basis of a fund to alleviate flooding and storm damage over the years to come.
Global warming is with us and it will not go away. We can expect to suffer serious damage from further and fiercer storms with flooding in the years ahead. Now, while the money is available, we have the opportunity to provide for the future. The present prosperity will not last for ever, and later will be too late. - Yours, etc.,
Hugo Duffy, Furry Park Road, Killester, Dublin 5.
