Sir, - On a recent visit to the Mater Hospital, I spent 36 hours on a trolley in the Accident and Emergency section, waiting to obtain a bed in an actual ward. The discomfort, stress and sheer lack of dignity experienced in such a situation is considerable, and I have heard of people spending three days or more on trolleys.
The Irish and Filipina nurses - as well as the doctors, porters and all other staff - could not have been more attentive, but I hope the Minister will look into this disgraceful situation and give the ordinary Joe Soap a break. - Yours,
Charles Willis, Balglass Road, Howth, Co Dublin.
