Australian photographer Krystle Wright last week became the first woman ever to win the Red Bull Illume, the world’s largest imagery contest that celebrates adventure and action sports.
Wright’s shot of climber Angela VanWiemeersch illuminated in a crack, deep within Long Canyon, Utah, was chosen by the judging panel of more than 50 photographers.
The exhibition of the Red Bull Illume top 50 selection launches in Sölden, Austria, where it is on display daily at the Gaislachkoglbahn cable car station until December 21st. The images on display are illuminated on 2x2m lightboxes that are the signature of the presentation.
The Irish Times picture editor, Brenda Fitzsimons, was one of the global judges.
