Sir, - I would like the people protesting against the relocation of psychiatric patients to Carlton House in Lispopple, Swords to consider one thing: that they are not yet dead. It is only after death that any individual is certain not to suffer from a mental illness.
One in four of the population suffer from mental illness at some time in their lives, so I suggest that the protesters consider this statistic in relation to their families and neighbours. It can encroach on any of our lives at any time.
They should constructively redirect their energies toward campaigning for more, improved care and facilities for psychiatric patients instead of worrying about the "threat" to property prices. In this event they could stand tall and show their faces in public. - Is mise,
Siobhan Whitehead, Kilrane, Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford.
