Dr McKenna Cup SF/UUJ 0-12 Tyrone 0-9:UUJ inflicted a first Dr McKenna Cup defeat on Tyrone in five years at Healy Park yesterday. Five Tyrone players in the Jordanstown side made a big impact, with Raymond Mulgrew, Ciarán Donnelly and Brendan Boggs scoring five points between them in the opening half.
Donnelly converted two frees, while Mulgrew and wing back Boggs landed superb efforts from distance.
UUJ led by 0-8 to 0-4 at the break, and captain Mark Lynch emerged as a key figure in the second half, hitting the target twice.
The students were reduced to 14 men when Colm Cavanagh picked up a second yellow card midway through the second half, but Tyrone were unable to take advantage.
