IRISH DERBY/News: The Alamshar team of the Aga Khan, John Oxx and John Murtagh suffered a reverse ahead of the Derby weekend when they lost a race at the Turf Club yesterday.
The Appeals and Referrals Committee reversed a decision by the Roscommon stewards two weeks ago whereby the Oxx-trained Masandam was awarded the Budweiser Race on the disqualification of the Kevin Prendergast trained Rapid Ransom.
Prendergast later described that demotion as "scurrilous" and took the case to the Appeals and Referrals Committee who reversed the reversal yesterday.
Aidan O'Brien will leave it until declaration time today before deciding on the final composition of his Irish Derby team.
The Ballydoyle trainer has opened the possibility of all six of his entries running in the classic but definite arrangements will be left as late as possible.
"The plan is to scope them all in the morning, test them, and then I will ring Paul Hensey at the Curragh to get an update on the ground. We won't decide until after that," O'Brien said.
One commitment that has been made by O'Brien is that Arundel will run in the Group Three Curragh Cup tomorrow.
John Murtagh is booked for the Royal Ascot-winner Deportivo in Sunday's King Of Beers Stakes and other Derby day rides he has picked up include the Andrew Balding-trained Spanish Ace in the Railway Stakes and Hanabad in the Celebration Stakes.
The ground at the Curragh continues to be good to firm.
