The strength in depth of juvenile talent at Frankie Dettori's disposal in his bid to reclaim the Jockeys' Championship from Pat Eddery was evident at Sandown yesterday where Abreeze was a comfortable five-length winner of the Grass Widows Maiden. However, Fallon stretched his lead to eight after a double with Gymcrak Premier and Belle de Nuit at Yarmouth yesterday. The 7 to 2 shot Abreeze, who drifted in the betting market from even money, was hardly pushed out by the Italian - who the Tote now rate as a 2 to 1 chance for the title with Fallon at 4 to 11 - once the partnership had found racing room in the straight and ran out an emphatic winner from 5 to 4 favourite Dark Moondancer.

But Tommy Albertrani, assistant trainer to Godolphin's Saeed bin Suroor, confessed that the Danzig juvenile was only one of a number of useful two-year-olds soon to be unleashed on the racecourse by the stable.

He said: "Abreeze will be one of our better two-year-olds. We will be running quite a few over the next fortnight or so. It is quite a bit of ammunition for Frankie so long as he does not keep getting banned."

Abreeze, who received a 25 to 1 quote from Corals for next year's 2,000 Guineas could now run in the Dewhurst at Newmarket.

The colt was Godolphin's 10th juvenile winner of the season and will be available for Dettori to ride when the Italian returns from a six-day suspension which begins on Sunday.
