The star dual-purpose horse Al Eile is not a certain starter in Sunday's Grade Three Hurdle feature at Tipperary but John Queally's runner is being targeted at the prestigious Ebor Handicap at York next month.

Al Eile ran a fine race under a big weight in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle on his last start but the multiple Grade One winning hurdler has the option of returning over jumps this weekend in the Kevin McManus Grimes Hurdle.

"It was a grueller last time, possibly the toughest race he has ever had. It was very tough so I don't want him to come back too soon. We will let him tell us when he's ready," Queally said yesterday.

"He is not a Galway horse at all so we will possibly look towards the Ebor. That's more on my mind than anything else," he added.

The Killarney festival winds up this afternoon with Michael Kinane making the trip south for the ride on John Kiely's Migmatite in the 11-furlong maiden.

This bumper-placed runner was denied a start when a recent Roscommon meeting was rained off but he could be more of a reliable option than another former bumper horse, the Naas runner-up Masterofceremonies.

The Galway legend Ansar warms up for the Plate in the two-mile handicap and since he's just 3lb higher in the ratings since his last flat win, the Weld runner must have a chance.

Pacolet is another Plate contender in this but the solution could be the Gowran winner Tabaco who subsequently ran a good fourth to Sandymount Earl at the Curragh.

u Ger Lyons has ruled Elletelle out of the Lowther Stakes in preference for a clash with the colts in the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh. The speedy juvenile covered herself in glory at Newmarket last week despite defeat, finishing a close third behind You'resothrilling.

Carrying a 3lb penalty for her Royal Ascot success, she completely missed the break but made great late headway to claim a place, leaving connections believing their filly emerged as the best in the race.

"I'm going to go the route of the Phoenix Stakes, a Group One because we've already won a Group Two," said Lyons. "Obviously Henrythenavigator will be there but if the ground is right that is where we'll go, this rain can't keep up forever.
