Longford Town have been given the go-ahead to stage their UEFA Cup preliminary round, first-leg tie with Bulgarian side Liteks Lovech - their debut in European club competition - at a refurbished Flancare Park today.

The ground was inspected on Tuesday by UEFA official Kaare Lindboe and the Norwegian finally passed it fit to stage the game following a second look at lunchtime yesterday.

Over 5,000 new seats have been installed on three new sides of concreted terracing, bringing the capacity up to 6,750.

"There were just one or two minor things that needed to be sorted out, and I never saw a problem in having them done in time," said Longford secretary Donald Keogh.

"The dressingrooms weren't finished, but we got that sorted by the time the UEFA observer returned to the ground today. We had people working through the night so that everything was in place by this morning.

"The dressingroom was his main sticking point, but we left no stone unturned. The game is going to go ahead in Longford, not anywhere else. I always promised that."
