Allen Gaels' strength and power proved to be a match-winning formula against Aughavas in the Leitrim senior football final at Pairc Sean MhicDiarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon, yesterday. The Drumshanbo side were led to their second title in succession by man-of-the-match, Noel Moran, who gave an outstanding exhibition of running and scoring.
Allen Gaels led by 0-9 to 1-5 at the interval and although Aughavas missed a 36th minute penalty, the defending champions stamped their authority on the subsequent exchanges with a series of scores in the third quarter.
A 43rd-minute goal by Moran put the game beyond the reach of gallant Aughavas.
