Ann Downey, who has been setting records on the camogie field for many years, is now setting records on the golf course. Downey, a winner of 12 All-Ireland camogie medals with Kilkenny, had an amazing 53 points on a recent outing to Mount Wolseley. She has been a member of Castlecomer for three years, but was unable to get the time to play golf because of her commitment to camogie. However, with Kilkenny making an unusually early exit from this year's championship, Downey turned to golf on the 11th of July. Her first handicap of 43 did not last too long, however, as her magnificent 53 points has resulted in a cut of nine shots.
