Taking the lead in the fourth minute with a long-range point by centre half back, Justin McNulty, Armagh were always in control of their Section B game against London, played at Ruislip yesterday. After turning 2-8 to 0-1, the difference in class between the teams was even more evident in the second half with Armagh permanently encamped in their opponents' territory.
London failed to match the winners in fitness and teamwork, although it is to the credit of such players as Steve McLoughlin, Barry McDonagh, Brendan Fitzgerald and Tommy Maguire, that they tried manfully to stem the tide.
Undoubtedly Armagh proved to be the most impressive team to visit Ruislip for some years and with players of the standing of Gerrard Reid, John Rafferty, Kieran McGeeney and Diarmuid Marsden, they seem well placed to make further progress in their league campaign.
Yesterday the winners were particularly effective in attack, with all six forwards figuring on the score sheets.
