Arsenal and Chelsea are being investigated by the English Football Association about the confrontation of about a dozen players during their FA Cup fifth-round tie at Highbury on Sunday.

The two clubs would face heavy fines if the FA decided to take action against them after reviewing video evidence and they were then found guilty at any future hearing.

The FA will consider whether to hit any individual players with misconduct charges, while Chelsea defender Celestine Babayaro could be also charged following two other incidents missed by the officials.

If found guilty of deliberately treading on Fredrik Ljungberg's ankle through the use of video evidence, Babayaro could be banned for three matches under the terms of rules governing violent conduct.

With Crystal Palace and Norwich facing another probe after a mass brawl last weekend, this is the first big test of the FA's disciplinary rules since chief executive Adam Crozier made it clear rigid guidelines must be adhered to.

Following the heated cup tie at Highbury, FA spokesman Adrian Bevington said: "Referee Graham Barber has sent in his match report and has asked us to look at an incident which could be alleged to be a mass confrontation.

"He has also confirmed that he did not see a couple of incidents involving Celestine Babayaro."

Eric Cantona has topped a poll listing Manchester United's 100 greatest players. As a former United star Denis Law explains: "He was the missing piece of the jigsaw that Alex (Ferguson) was searching for. When he arrived everything seemed to slot into place and he was the one that started the success that continues today."

The survey, commissioned by United's official magazine, asked fans to vote for their alltime greats to celebrate their 100th issue.

United's all-time greats (top ten): 1, Eric Cantona; 2, George Best; 3, Ryan Giggs; 4, Bobby Charlton; 5, Peter Schmeichel; 6, Bryan Robson; 7, Roy Keane; 8, David Beckham; 9, Duncan Edwards; 10, Denis Law.
