If Nicolas Anelka looked like a grumpy Gunner last season he will look suicidal next term after Arsenal vowed to retain his services.
The young French star has been stalked by Europe's top clubs this summer but a message from Highbury suggests Anelka is far from packed and ready to go.
In a statement released yesterday, the club have insisted they want their hottest property to stay as they bid to win back the Premiership and challenge in Europe.
A club spokesman said: "In the light of recent media reports, Arsenal FC would like to stress that it is our wish to retain the services of Nicolas Anelka.
"On Nicolas' impending return from holiday the situation regarding his future at Arsenal FC will be discussed and resolved."
