Australian Teenager Lleyton Hewitt re-lived memories of his famous victory in the Australian men's hardcourt championship last year when he beat seventh seed Nicolas Kiefer in the first round in Adelaide yesterday.

Hewitt beat the German 7-5, 6-4 to spark new celebrations at the stadium where he won the title last year at the tender age of 16.

Last year, while still an amateur, Hewitt beat Andre Agassi and a string of other top players on the way to take the hardcourt title even before he had become a full-time professional.

Hewitt was ranked 550 in the world then and is still just outside the top 100 but is determined to make 1999 the year when he gets established on the international circuit.
