Keith Barr broke a collarbone when helping his club Erin's Isle in the Dublin senior football League match against Naomh Olafs in Finglas yesterday.
Barr played one of his best games ever while inspiring his side in an important tie with relegation in sight for both teams. With 10 minutes remaining he was accidently involved in a crunch collision with an opponent and fell heavily. The match was halted until the ambulance arrived to remove him to hospital.
His colleagues did not let him down, however, particularly Robbie Boyle, as Isles scored a 0-16 to 1-6 win.
Meanwhile at Clondalkin, Round Towers had a shock win over Kilmacud Crokes.
