Formula One: Rubens Barrichello has warned Formula One to expect a Ferrari backlash in Bahrain this weekend.

The world champions have suffered a terrible start to the season with their modified 2004 car but responded by introducing their new machine two races early.

Ferrari arrive at Sakhir with their new car and Barrichello has an ominous warning for their rivals, insisting the 2005 machine is a major step forward.

He said: "The new car is quicker. It is particularly amazing to drive through the high-speed corners. It is better on the braking and in almost every area.

"At Mugello, my first impressions were really positive and the car brought a smile to my face. With the new car we can really fight the opposition."

Barrichello's team-mate Michael Schumacher, who has endured his worst-ever start to a season with just two points on the board after two races, is keen to go into battle again.

The seven-times world champion refuses to worry about Renault's early-season dominance and has put his faith in hard work to turn around Ferrari's fortunes.

He said: "After having been in Formula One for so many years, I know every season has it's ups and downs. This season will be the longest we've ever had so anything can happen.

"We're experiencing right now that things can change at the drop of a hat - and also that hard work results in progress.

"So we are going to continue to focus on the work that we need to do."
