Bellaghy 2-7 Loup 1-6: Declan Graffin's injury-time goal sealed a 21st Derry senior title for Bellaghy in a robust final at Celtic Park yesterday.
While the Wolfe Tones needed that goal from their minor star to clinch victory, they really should have been out of sight by then.
A string of misses had allowed Loup stay in touch and it would have been a travesty if Damian Cassidy's side had been denied.
With Joe Diver at centrefield and Gareth Doherty at centre forward pulling the strings Bellaghy dominated possession. But with Joe Cassidy their only reliable scorer they struggled to shake off Loup, for whom Joe O'Kane was brilliant at wing back.
Loup took an early lead with a Ronan Rocks free and doubled it in the eighth minute through Johnny McBride.
It took the winners 15 minutes to score, Cassidy pointing, but on 22 minutes they exploited some suicidal Loup defending, Gareth Doherty dispossessing John O'Kane and flicking to the net.
Loup finished the half strongly with a great goal from Joe O'Kane for a 1-3 to 1-1 lead.
The teams traded points and Bellaghy, despite numerous wides, led 1-7 to 1-6 on the hour. They sealed the win in the 62nd minute with Graffin's thumping shot to the net.
