The late freelance football journalist Adam Dunphy will be remembered at Dalymount Park this evening when teams drawn from the leagues that he took a particular interest in will play benefit games in order to raise funds for his son, Aran.
Adam, who died in tragic circumstances last spring just seven days before Aran was born, worked mainly for Independent Group newspapers where he covered football and a variety of other sports, but his speciality was the Leinster amateur leagues and the national underage scene.
Players from these areas of the Irish game will play tonight in aid of the Aran Dunphy Trust Fund with the Republic of Ireland under-14s taking on a South Dublin selection at 6.30 p.m. and the Republic of Ireland juniors facing a LSL Intermediate selection at 8.0 p.m.
Tickets for the games are £2 and £1 for adults and children respectively and donations to the fund can be made at any EBS branch to a/c number 36123080.
