Paul Bennett and Kathleen Brosnan got their busy year as captains of Killorglin Golf off to a winning start when they finished in the prizes at their drive-in last Sunday. Despite the counter attraction of the televised ManchesterUnited/Liverpool FA Cup game, the members turned out in force for the scramble with victory going to Peter Flemming, Eileen Bell and Ger Joy. They finished just ahead of Colm Dunlea, Maria Pigott and Moss Joy, with the captains and Jackie Quirke in third place.

Another captain facing a busy time is Austin Kelly at Castlecomer. Kelly took up duty last week for his second time at the helm this decade. He was also captain at Castlecomer in 1990.
