Bernstein, the 12 to 1 favourite for next year's 2,000 Guineas, misses his intended engagement in tomorrow's Anglesey Stakes at the Curragh.
Aidan O'Brien took the unbeaten Storm Cat colt out of the Group Three contest yesterday morning and instead Michael Kinane will ride Rossini in the race.
"Bernstein cantered this morning and I've decided to give him just a little bit more time before he races again. Physically he is fine but I haven't got a race for him in mind at the moment," O'Brien said.
The Ballydoyle trainer all but ruled Finnan out of the Prix Robert Papin at Maissons Laffite in two weeks time but could still be represented in the race by either Rossini or Plato.
Meanwhile, Judge Jane Stickels has been relieved of her racecourse duties after causing confusion when calling the wrong winner in a photo-finish at Newmarket on Thursday.
Stickels announced Full Flow as the short-head winner of the Listed Weatherbys Superlative Stakes but 35 seconds later confirmed that Irish raider Thady Quill had won.
