Hunters Tweed helped to lift some of the gloom surrounding James Bethell's yard as he swept to an easy victory at Doncaster yesterday.

Badly-hit by the loss of four horses from his string, Bethell was lifted by the performance of the promising Nashwan colt. Sent to the front in the home straight by Kieren Fallon, Hunters Tweed galloped on powerfully all the way to defeat the favourite Bellefonte by six lengths in the Norwest Holst Maiden Stakes.

Bethell revealed after the race that a few weeks ago owner Sheikh Amin Dahlawi removed four horses from the stable, including the moneyspinning Return of Amin and Little Amin. The quartet have been split up with the horses going to Richard Hannon, William Muir and Mikey HeatonEllis.

"I don't think I did much wrong. I managed to win £79,000 in prize money with Return of Amin. But it seems the owner wanted to move all the horses south," said Bethell

Royal Result ended a lean spell in style at York on Saturday and can follow up in the Tote Scoop6 (Showcase Handicap) at Newbury today. A 6lb penalty is unlikely to stop this six-furlong specialist from going in again as he appeared to win with a bit in hand on the Knavesmire.
