Matt Dawson's try in the first test between the Lions and South Africa last June in Cape Town was definitely one of the most sublime sporting moments of the year. Trailing 16-15 with six minutes remaining, the Lions were exerting pressure on the world champions when Dawson made his break. The under-study scrum-half fooled the entire South African back row with an outrageous dummy to score in the corner.
The Lions, with heroic performances from the Irish threesome of Keith Wood, Jeremy Davidson and Paul Wallace, went on to win that test 25-16 and sealed the series a week later with another awesome display of tackling and disciplined forward play to become only the second Lions test side this century to win a series in South Africa.
