SLIGO's Aisling Blake won the under 16 final at the Belgian junior Open squash tournament in Brussels yesterday with a 3-1 victory over Germany's Katherine Rohrmuller.

The 15 year old, a pupil of Sligo's Ursuline Convent, finished fifth in last year's event, and had already surpassed that achievement by the time she beat top seed Tina Hannes of Belgium in the semi final.

Blake, regarded as one of the Irish game's brightest prospects, clinched the title when she beat the German number one in the final, 9-3 4-9 9-4 9-5.
