Sligo Rovers 4 Sporting Fingal 3:BENIN international Romauld Boco scored in each half as Sligo Rovers swept to a thrilling win over Sporting Fingal at the Showgrounds last night,

Second-half goals by Boco (61 minutes) and Eoin Doyle (73 minutes) put Sligo 4-0 up and preceded a storming comeback by the visitors which yielded late goals by Gary O’Neill, Kenny Browne and Shaun Williams in the 78th, 82nd and 93rd minutes respectively.

Matthew Blinkhorn cased a few anxious moments for the Sporting defence early on, a timely interception by Brian Gannon denied him a shot on target within seconds of the kick-off.

O’Neill went close for the visitors on three minutes following a sweeping cross by Conan Byrne.

Sligo looked unsure of themselves and their play was laboured at times in the first half in contrast to the visitors who played some controlled and skilful football,

Boco missed a great chance to put the home side ahead after 31 minutes as the hosts stepped up a gear. Sporting Fingal then had a chance to break the deadlock in the 35th minute but Ronan Finn ballooned the ball over the bar.

Sligo finally broke the deadlock when they took the lead in the 38th minute – a Joseph Ndo cross was finished to the Sporting Fingal net by Gavin Peers.

And worse was to follow for the visitors when Boco raced clear of his marker on the stroke of half-time to drill the ball past helpless Sporting goalkeeper Darren Quigley,
