BOLTON yesterday received an informed vote of confidence to defy historical precedent and make an impact among English soccer's elite on their return to the Premiership next season.

The Burnden Park club became the first to seal promotion this season by completing a 2-1 victory at home to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, to spark celebrations throughout the town.
