SECOND-HALF goals from Chris Eagles and Gael Kakuta sealed Bolton’s victory over Aston Villa in the third round of the English League Cup. Eagles gave Bolton the lead after 54 minutes, hammering a powerful drive past Shay Given from 20 yards out.
Kakuta doubled the lead with 12 minutes left with a volley from the edge of the area.
Blackburn Rovers beat League One side Leyton Orient 3-2 at Ewood Park. Jason Roberts put the hosts ahead with a penalty just before half-time only for David Mooney to equalise.
However, Ruben Rochina made it 2-1 with a simple tap-in and Simon Vukcevic drilled in his maiden goal for the club before Dean Cox added a late consolation for the visitors.

Newcastle United had to fight hard to edge Nottingham Forest 4-3 after extra-time at the City Ground. United were pegged back three times before Fabricio Coloccini struck in the 120th minute to send Newcastle through.
