The recent world light heavyweight title fight between Roy Jones Jr (left) and Richard Hall ended as most people had predicted - Jones winning. The bout was stopped in the last round. Jones has now lost just once in 42 fights.
Analysis of the bout, however, revealed just why boxing is regarded as bad for the health. The champion Jones connected with 320 of the 512 punches he threw with Hall connecting with 106 from 485 efforts.
The statistics were even more frightening for power punches. Jones landed 273 from 421 thrown with Hall hitting Jones with 94 of his 247. What does this tell us? Well, perhaps the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world could not dodge 106 punches, 94 of them considered powerful. Hate to be a journeyman pro.
